iPhone users take elitism to new depths over Instagram for Android.

If we’re to believe the recent whining of iPhone users, the release of Instagram for Android is one of the signs of the apocalypse. Rather upset that the photo sharing app lost its exclusivity to their precious device, they’ve taken to Twitter to cry about it. As you can see, one user decided Instagram was a “gated community” but now is a run down “Section 8 housing”. Which really is not only elitist but offensive if you think about it. You can draw plenty of assumptions off that one message but sadly there are more.

The level of tweets coming from butthurt iFanboys hammers home a long believed idea of them. They’re snobby, self entitled, arrogant, pretentious, etc. Before we get too far into this, let’s make one thing clear – not all iPhone users are that way. The amount of crying that is out there does make it seem though that a majority of them are. It really should be funny that they’re so angry over a simple app but it’s sad. It’s just an app people!

Having access or not to any particular app does not make anyone better than anyone else. The fact that some people are clinging onto an antiquated ideal of superiority because of a cell phone is sickening. Instead maybe, just maybe, they could be happy we live in an age where we have this kind of technology.

Any geeks out there sporting an Apple device? What’s your take on this? Androiders, chime in as well. Do try to keep it somewhat civil though.

Androiders can now get their Instagram on!

Well my fellow Androiders, today Instagram has finally hit the Play Store! No longer exclusive to the iPhone, the immensely popular photo sharing service has long been just beyond out fingertips. How popular? At last count, there were over 30 million users uploading over 5 million pics a day! No wonder we want in! While we pined away, those other people were enjoying the features of Instagram – taking photos, adding plenty of hipster filters and clicking plenty of “art” pictures. Now they can shush it as we get in on the fun too!

The Instagram team has worked hard on giving Android users their own version of the app not just a paltry port. Sadly a few features of the iOS version are absent right now – Tilt/Shift Blur, Share to Flicker, Live Preview and Share From Feed – but fret not, the team is busting chops to get those and more running for us. The app will run on any phone with Android 2.2 or higher, with a max resolution of 2,048 x 2,048. Both versions are then pretty much identical, meaning your phone’s camera is the only wild card.

Are you geeks happy for it or are you tired of it? Comment it after the break!

Download it now here!

New Photo-Sharing Service Announced From Twitter

Twitter is adding some new functions for their website today such as a new follow button and a new photo-sharing service. The follow button allows websites to embed, well, a “follow” button which will make it much easier for visitors to follow the site. The button will shorten the number of clicks a visitor has to make just to follow.

They also added a new real-time search that includes videos and photos in the results. Probably best of all, Twitter’s new photo-sharing service, you no longer will have to upload to yfrog or lockerz/plixi which ultimately takes you away from twitter. So now we will be able to upload/view pictures directly on Twitter.
