2 Million iPhone 5 Pre-orders In 24 Hours

Apple announced that 2 million iPhone 5 preorders were taken within a 24 hour time period. This doubles the amount of first day pre-orders that were taken for the 4S from last year. iPhone 5 is now Apple’s fastest selling smart phone to date. Apple’s marketing boss Phillip Schiller had the following to say, “iPhone 5 pre-orders have shattered the previous record held by iPhone 4S and the customer response has been phenomenal. iPhone 5 is the best iPhone yet, the most beautiful product we’ve ever made, and we hope customers love it as much as we do.”
The pre-ordering began last Friday on the Internet at 12:01 PST/3:01 EST and within an hour Apple was out of their launch day inventory. Verizon, AT&T announced by early Friday afternoon they were sold out of launch day pre-order stock as well. Mobile payment company Square now hitting most major retailers

If you have ever bought anything from me while I am mobile I am sure you have seen my little Square credit card reader. Tons of people always ask me “where can I get one of those?” Good news, on a recent tweet from CEO Jack Dorsey Best Buy, Target, Walmart, The Shack, and Apple will all be carrying the card reader in their stores. Looks as if it will run you about $10 compared to ordering online and waiting about 5-7 days for free. So if you are needing to take some payment ASAP this might be your way to go. Radio Shack Waiting on Time Sensitive Shipment; iPhone5?

RadioShack stores have been alerted that there are shipments due in today, unmarked and not in their inventory system, that must be secured immediately and placed in lock-up. With the Apple press conference beginning in minutes, perhaps RadioShack, who does tremendous cell phone sales, is getting an advanced shipment.
Notes on the shipment state that employees not following the security protocol will be subject to immediate termination! Is this Radio Shack screenshot proof of Sprint’s iPhone 5?

This screenshot is allegedly from a Radio Shack inventory search showing Apple’s iPhone 5 hitting all of the big three carriers. All the rumors, all the buzz has been leading to the conclusion that Sprint will be joining its big brothers in the Apple love fest. It also shows the two models of iPhone 5, a 16GB and a 32GB version. No dates are listed but pretty much every rumor and analyst on the internet pegs the release happening within the new week or so.
One wonders if Sprint’s recent customer burning changes have all been in a bid to grab their own branded version of the Cupertino handset. With Apple set to fill in all the gaps this Tuesday, every rumor should at last be put to rest. We’ll keep you geeks fully apprised of all the juicy details!
