Geek Movie Review: “Captain America:The First Avenger”
Last Updated on Monday, 25 July 2011 08:58 Written by biggybox Monday, 25 July 2011 07:00
This will be the fourth 2 hr. long teaser I’ve seen for next years summer blockbuster “The Avengers”. Hopefully with after almost a decade of hyping and watching Samuel Jackson recruiting as Nick Fury, it better be the best comic book movie ever. After not wanting to be disappointed again by Paramount and Marvel, I was hesitant to go see this film, but Captain America did not disappoint. Opening day saw $25 million in revenue and an impressive $4 million at the midnight showings. Weekend total earnings of $65.8 million were estimated by the studio , which blows away the previous two Marvel movies “Thor” and “X-Men:First Class“.
One thing is for sure, the only way to see this movie is in 3-D. The visual effects of this movie were stunning. Avatar was the last movie I saw that had this great of of use of 3D. Everything from the background scenery to even the fight scenes were excellent. A very good portion of the movie I felt like I was in the action throwing my own shield made of Vibranium-Adimantium. Some of the scenes when there were a few people standing around in a circle whispering , I actually felt like I was part of the huddle. The special Fx and the 3-D were impeccable, and definitely worth seeing if you haven’t been to a 3-D movie yet. Read on for more.

Geek Review: Captain America Pinball FX 2
Last Updated on Monday, 27 June 2011 03:50 Written by LoganDX Monday, 27 June 2011 03:00
It’s no secret that we here at Don’t Hate The Geek are big fans of Pinball FX2. As evidenced on a recent Geekcast, The Geek and I gushed about it to Zen Studios‘ Mel Kirk. We became enamored with the geeky fan service they served up with their Marvel Pinball tables, namely Iron Man, Wolverine, Spider-Man and Blade. Next up for Marvel fans is the Stars and Stripes wearing, shield slinging Captain America. Taking place during World War II, Cap and his constant companion Bucky must storm the gates of Castle Zemo, home of the maniacal Baron Zemo. A multitude of missions will be tossed at the duo, including a throwdown with the dastardly super Nazi, The Red Skull. So what’s the geeky verdict, must buy or wait awhile? Hit the jumpy jump!

Captain America: The First Avenger “True” Trailer Goes Live
Last Updated on Friday, 25 March 2011 06:07 Written by PieceOfSith Friday, 25 March 2011 04:30
The name Captain America is one of comic book stardom. The character stands for what America is, heroic, patriotic and dramatic. The character and his charisma will be seen this summer when Marvel Studios releases Captain America: The First Avenger. The title of course gives reference to the upcoming film to link many of Marvel’s latest Hollywood stories, simply titled, The Avengers (2012).
If you were one of the many that watched this past years Superbowl, you may have caught a glimpse with a “teaser trailer” to this film to hit theatres on July, 22 2011. To tell you the truth, the teaser did exactly what it sent out to do, tease audiences of the films full potential. Some of us here at DHTG even had a discussion from the teaser trailer possibly thinking that this film will be just another bust from Marvel Studios, just like The Punisher: War Zone (yuck). But what has two thumbs and went out to say that this film will be the best Marvel film this Summer, this guy did. So enough of the teasing, Marvel Studios and Paramount have just released the first “true” trailer to the film, and one in which could make anyone think the same way as I do, it’s gonna be a good flick.

First Real Shots Of The Captain America Costume In Action
Last Updated on Saturday, 11 September 2010 09:58 Written by The Geek Friday, 10 September 2010 09:00
Here we go! I knew some pics would pop up online soon…
My first reaction was “WTF?!” – but keep in mind that it’s a stunt-person and this costume (hopefully) won’t be used for closeups or detailed shots on film. And Chris Evans will likely be wearing a much more complete, fitted costume in the final product. But this at least gives you a basic idea of what to expect – and the bike looks sweet!
You also get to see Cap’s shield, and some Red Skull henchmen! Check it out and let us know what you think!
