Five Villains We Want to See in a Batman Reboot
Last Updated on Monday, 23 July 2012 03:18 Written by JCWaitWat Monday, 23 July 2012 02:15
While the Nolan trilogy has come to a an epic conclusion, and with no signs of donning the cape and mask again, it would seem that Batman is up for grabs for any director who wants to try and out do Nolan’s seemingly out do-able trilogy. Personally I would like to see Guillermo del Toro make a grizzly animated version of the Arkham Asylum graphic novel. But that’s another article for another day.
The one of the defining features of Nolan’s trilogy was his choice of villains. Batman has a huge number of nemeses ranging from the well known like The Joker all the way to utterly obscure Calculator, who fought Batman and the Justice League in a costume designed like a pocket calculator. With Scarecrow and Ra’s al Ghul appearing in Batman Begins, then with Heath Ledger’s phenomenal performance as the Joker as well as the appearance of Harvey Dent in The Dark Knight and now with Bane rearing his ugly head in The Dark Knight Rises many of the major villains have been covered. However there are some which, with the right guidance, could be truly terrifying.

Hacked Vita runs Battlefield 3 and Arkham City

Yes that’s right, a Play Station Vita already running two of the biggest titles of last year. But don’t rush out and buy a Vita just yet. Sony’s new handheld was running a hacked version of firmware 3.55 and used the remote play functionality to run these high end games. This is a bit odd though as Sony has recently released firmware 4.0 which has legitimate Vita support. Still it’s pretty darn cool and you cannot get the likes of Battlefield 3 on the Vita just yet.
The hack came from user homer49 who posted videos of not only Arkham City and Battlefield 3 but also Red Dead Redemption and boy does it look good running on the Vita. How long though until games like Arkham City will be officially released for the palms of our hands? We’ll just have to wait and see, and in the meantime bask in the glory of homer49′s work!

Get a handle on Robin in this Arkham City vid. [VIDEO]

He ain’t heavy, he’s my sidekick. At least that’s what a lot of us thought about the newer Robin. Personally, I haven’t downloaded the Robin DLC pack for Arkham City since I simply wasn’t sure about the Boy Wonder. Watching this video put together by Rocksteady has pretty much changed my mind. He’s not just Batman-lite here, he has some impressive moves in his repertoire. Robin can deflect bullets with a shield built into his staff whereas Bats has to duck and hide from them. He has a brutal looking zip-kick that just might cave in the chest of any unlucky goon on the receiving end. The best part might just be the Snap Flash, a mobile mine. Plant it on an unsuspecting baddie and let him get into a group of his cohorts then detonate. Boom goes the dynamite! Better yet, knock out him out, plant the mine and wait for them to come check it out. Just like Batman’s explosive gel, set it off when several get close for maximum damage!
The Robin DLC pack is available separately for 560 Microsoft Points ($7) or the recently released Arkham Bundle which also includes the Nightwing pack and the Batman Skins pack for 1200 MS points ($15). There’s even a video showcasing that dlc as well. Hit the jump the check both out and decide for yourselves!

Holy Robin & Bane conspiracy Batman!?

Well if you haven’t seen the new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises then you are truly missing out. It is epic! The trailer teaser which was released a couple of months ago only gave so much to go on but this new trailer, initially shown in IMAX cinemas before the showing of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, gives us a good look at what’s in store for the Bat.
So the character that really stole the show in this trailer was of course Tom Hardy’s Bane. With his popped collar and mask he truly is a force to be reckoned with. So what I here you ask? Well Bane has been dubbed as one of Batman’s most dangerous villain, surpassing the likes of the Joker and Ra’s Al Ghul. Bane is a product of testing using a drug called “Venom”, and is supremely strong and smart. But Bane is famous for really one thing and one thing only- breaking Batman’s back. This may have been implied in one of the release posters with Bane walking away from a smashed up Batman mask. Who knows? Will Nolan bring end to the Bruce Wayne Batman saga? We also see some sort of prison riot, Arkham Asylum? There is some evidence for it being the famed prison. Before breaking Batman’s back he destroys the walls of Arkahm Asylum allowing all of Batman’s foes to escape. Batman is forced to recapture all these criminals, allowing Bane to plot Batman’s downfall, resulting in a battle between the two at Wayne Manor. One last thing on the giant, while watching the trailer I struggled to understand what on earth Bane said when he grumbled “When Gotham is ashes you have my permission to die”. Hopefully this won’t be a problem in the film, hopefully…
