The awesome sauce that is was Sanctuary is no more! Syfy last week confirmed that the series ended its run with the already wrapped season four. What started out as a web series stormed the hearts of monster loving geeks ’round the globe and now, now what do we have? Nothing like it, that’s for sure! There’s not a show like it out there, one that combined tech, drama, monsters (Abnormals) plus reimagined classic stories and history to deliver a kick ass series. Nothing! The parting shot from Syfy was delivered in this quote from Mark Stern, president of original content:

“We’re honored to have been part of this incredible series. In addition to garnering unmatched devotion by fans worldwide, Sanctuary was a bona fide trailblazer, setting new standards with its highly innovative production techniques – including pioneering green screen and RED camera technology – and Emmy-nominated visual effects…It’s been an amazing ride and we look forward to our next project with Amanda Tapping, Martin Wood and Damian Kindler”

It’s bad enough Syfy killed Ashley in season 2 but now nuking everything? What’s next, grabbing Santa Claus, The Easter Bunny and The Tooth Fairy and decapitating them in front of a third grade assembly? We geeks are not even close to being enthused, totally angered and pretty disgusted right now is a more apt feeling. It’s bad enough some of the geekiest shows are being blitzed for schlock like “So You Think You Can Drink?” “Grannies Gone Gonzo” and blechh - “Survivor”, do we really need another hit to our TV watching? It’s true, the good do die young.

Step away from those fluffy kitties Syfy!
