Multi Window comes to Sprint’s Galaxy Note II.

U.S. versions of Samsung’s newest phablet phone, the Note II, launched missing a much touted feature of their International cousins – the Multi Window function. Using MW, folks could run two apps at once. Maybe check their email and surf the web or dot around in calendar while checking a text. Owners of the Note II here were left wondering just what the heck was going on, especially as MW was so hyped. Per the usual, U.S. carriers kept mum. Now Sprint has finally let loose details about the feature and when we can see it.

Coming in the next few days, Sprint users will find the update coming over the air. Along with Multi Window, the Note II will also receive a few tweaks. Incoming texts will now sound off a audible alert when received and email will get better when offline. Sprint notes that the update could take as long as five days before everyone gets their hands on it.

Verizon blacking out employee vacation days at end of month, iPhone 5 imminent?

The rumors that Apple’s iPhone 5 would be launching on September 21st seem to be right on the money. Verizon has told employees that the time between September 21st and the 30th are off-limits for vacation days. Carrier vacation black outs usually signal the next big release so this definitely fits in with the rumors of the new iPhone launch. AT&T has also put a big black check mark for employees around that same time, theirs however extends farther by also taking away some time in October.

The big question is for anyone who is interested in the new shiny from Apple: are you going to wait in the ridiculous lines at AT&T, Verizon or Sprint or would you rather do your pre-ordering\shopping online and sleep in? I personally would stay away from the madness!

Sprint to entice customers with free tablets!

Eyeing yourself a new smartphone and plan on handing your monies over to Sprint? If so, then there’s an upcoming promo just for you. Starting August 12th, Big S is handing out free tablets with any smartphone purchase! That means you could grab a spiffy new Galaxy S III or an iPhone 4S or heck even some of the lower end el cheapo phones.

The tablet in question, yes there is only one offered, is the ZTE Optik which you can check out here. It’s a pretty decent slate with a 1.2 GHZ dual-core processor and 1GB of RAM under that 7″ screen. Granted it is on Android 3.2 (Honeycomb) and most likely won’t get an official (hint, hint) update to Ice Cream Sandwich but thems the breaks sometimes. The tablet usually runs $99 on contract ($350 out an out) so free is a pretty tempting price point. Unknown right now is if anyone taking Sprint up on their offer will have to sign up for a data plan for their freebie, my gut says they’ll have to.

Any geeks feeling the urge to grab some new shiny devices at Sprint? Let us know after the jumpy  jump!
