The current rumor going around the block is that Ra’s Al Ghul will return for The Dark Knight Rises. Now before you get to excited you should know two things. First and foremost if it is true it will not be the all powerful Liam Neeson playing him and the role itself will be flash backs if at all. Second as is with all TDKR news it’s best to take it with a grain of salt. The Nolan’s like to keep things very close to their chest and have even been known to leak false information through sources just to throw people off.
So the question is if it’s not Liam playing this younger flash back Ra’s who will it be? Answer is Josh Pence. Now I hear the crickets going off at the mere mention of that name so I may need to clarify just a bit. Pence had a smallish appearance in The Social Network and will be in the upcoming Battleship movie. Not exactly the best resume, but if Nolan is impressive at anything it’s casting so lets wait and see shall we. Read more: Is Ra’s Al Ghul in The Dark Knight Rises?

Batman is one of my superhero boyfriends so I have strong opinions on how Nolan’s trilogy should end. I trust his vision as a director but with the purposeful misdirection and character rumors it’s tough to get a handle on what the final product could look like.
I’m most curious about how Bane will be treated. He’s sure to be more menacing than the travesty of Schumacher’s version. Although some may dismiss him as a disposable thug due to Batman & Robin, Bane is a formidable foe for the caped crusader and a great character to introduce in the final chapter of this darkened version of Batman.
With Batman more of a rogue than ever due to the events in The Dark Knight it makes sense for a flood of criminals to arrive in Gotham. They probably see the city as a free for all now that it has been proven the city is corrupt and without its vigilante hero. For this reason, I’m not concerned that multiple villains are rumored. I don’t think the film will turn into a baddie grab bag like Spider-Man 3. Also, not casting Eric Forman as a villain already gives TDKR a head start. Sorry, Topher, you just aren’t scary.
