Another day, more Dark Knight Rises footage! [VIDEO]

Not sure if Warner Bros should release any more clips from The Dark Knight Rises, heads are eventually going to pop before the movie’s July 20th release. We know Nolan is ending the trilogy with a massive bang but they need people alive and coherent enough to watch the final release (and buy those tickets)!

The recent trailer is labeled as an “Exclusive Nokia Trailer” however it doesn’t really matter because it’s 2:17 minutes of bone breaking awesome! Watch the clip but if you haven’t been paying attention or don’t know much of the Bane\Batman dynamic from the comics, you may find some spoilerish elements. Most of you geeks won’t be surprised but just on the safe side, you’ve been warned.

Hit the jump, peep the trailer and leave your thoughts in the comments…

Geeky Giveaway: This Means War!

We’re back geeks with another geeky giveaway sure to get your action bones going! Our forever friends at 20th Century Fox have saddled up with two copies of the upcoming spy comedy, This Means War, on DVD to give out to some lucky geeks. Haven’t heard of the flick? First – Shame on you! Second – let’s see what the studio says about it:

They are the CIA’s best, trained for any situation…except one.  Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment plays the ultimate spy game as two best friends fight for the right of one woman’s hand in THIS MEANS WAR, coming to Blu-ray, DVD and Digital Download May 22.  Starring Academy Award® winner Reese Witherspoon* (Walk the Line), Chris Pine (Star Trek) and Tom Hardy (The Dark Knight Rises), the laugh-out-loud comedy gets even better on Blu-ray with three alternate endings that answer the question – what if she chose the other guy?

The world’s deadliest CIA operatives, FDR Foster (Pine) and Tuck (Hardy), are inseparable partners and best friends until they fall for the same woman (Witherspoon).  Having once helped bring down entire enemy nations, they are now employing their incomparable skills and an endless array of high-tech gadgetry against their greatest nemesis – each other.

Jog anything in your geeky brains now? It’s kind of like a mash-up of True Lies and Mr. & Mrs. Smith in my opinion. Reese Witherspoon is smoking fine (as always), plus the chemistry between Hardy and Pine is hilarious! I mean think about it, two spies using the vast resources of the CIA to win the affection of a girl while knocking the other guy out of contention? Who wouldn’t want to do that?

Hit the break to get your chances in….

Holy Robin & Bane conspiracy Batman!?

Well if you haven’t seen the new trailer for The Dark Knight Rises then you are truly missing out. It is epic! The trailer teaser which was released a couple of months ago only gave so much to go on but this new trailer, initially shown in IMAX cinemas before the showing of Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol, gives us a good look at what’s in store for the Bat.

So the character that really stole the show in this trailer was of course Tom Hardy’s Bane. With his popped collar and mask he truly is a force to be reckoned with. So what I here you ask? Well Bane has been dubbed as one of Batman’s most dangerous villain, surpassing the likes of the Joker and Ra’s Al Ghul. Bane is a product of testing using a drug called “Venom”, and is supremely strong and smart. But Bane is famous for really one thing and one thing only- breaking Batman’s back. This may have been implied in one of the release posters with Bane walking away from a smashed up Batman mask. Who knows? Will Nolan bring end to the Bruce Wayne Batman saga? We also see some sort of prison riot, Arkham Asylum? There is some evidence for it being the famed prison. Before breaking Batman’s back he destroys the walls of Arkahm Asylum allowing all of Batman’s foes to escape. Batman is forced to recapture all these criminals, allowing Bane to plot Batman’s downfall, resulting in a battle between the two at Wayne Manor. One last thing on the giant, while watching the trailer I struggled to understand what on earth Bane said when he grumbled “When Gotham is ashes you have my permission to die”. Hopefully this won’t be a problem in the film, hopefully…

Holy Dark Knight details Batman- the gritty details of the Dark Knight Rises

The director of the upcoming Batman film, the Dark Knight Rises, spoke recently to film magazine Empire about what the movie is all about and also the man who broke the Bat – Bane. By the way SPOILERS AHEAD! Nolan, who directed both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, told the magazine that the Dark Knight Rises will be about finishing Batman and Bruce Wayne’s story, whether or not it will end with Bane snapping Batman’s back we shall have to wait and see. As for the setting, Nolan said that it will in fact be set 8 years after the events of the Dark Knight with an older Bruce in a bad state. Batman Beyond film anyone?

As for Bane, the drug pumped, intellectual lunatic that Batman will have to face will be played by Tom Hardy, who played Eames in Inception (another Nolan film) and said a lot to the magazine about Bane’s character :

He’s brutal. Brutal. He’s a big dude who’s incredibly clinical, in the fact that he has a result-based and oriented fighting style. It’s not about fighting. It’s about carnage. The style is heavy-handed, heavy-footed, it’s nasty. Anything from small-joint manipulation to crushing skulls, crushing rib cages, stamping on shins and knees and necks and collarbones and snapping heads off and tearing his fists through chests, ripping out spinal columns. He is a terrorist in mentality as well as brutal action.

Lovely stuff ain’t it? The film will be released 20th July 2012, but Nolan has confirmed there will be a prologue which according the Nolan will be the “basically the first six, seven minutes of the film” which will give all ”an introduction to Bane, and a taste of the rest of the film.” Look for it to be shown in select IMAX theatres on December 21st.
