March’s prequel games not selling so hot.

According to analyst firm Cowen & Company, the hyped prequels for both God of War and Gears of War aren’t the selling juggernauts their previous games were. Gears of War: Judgement fared better than God of War: Ascension, selling 425,00 copies. Ascension diddled out a paltry 360,00 units. Compare that to Gears of War 3 knocking over 3 million out in its first week and God of War 3′s first month’s sales of just over 1 million.
The Tomb Raider reboot and the critically praised Bioshock Infinite however are doing much better according to estimates. Tomb Raider has managed to get into the hands of 696,000 hands in March while Infinite has 665,000 copies out the door in a mere 10 days.
Could this be a sign for the recently announced Batman: Arkham Origins? It too will be a prequel game, handled by a different developer. Both Arkham games have done a stellar sales job but are gamers sick of prequels? Or was March just too packed with other quality titles? Or was it too many GoW games? Let us know what you think in the comments after the break!

A Geeky Review- Tomb Raider
Last Updated on Monday, 25 March 2013 12:01 Written by Laddie13 Monday, 25 March 2013 01:00
Every once in a while a game comes along that completely reaffirms my love of gaming. The recent reboot of Tomb Raider is one of those games. I had expected great things from Lara Croft‘s “rebirth” but what I got was quite a lot more awesome than I had planned. Tomb Raider is a near perfect game from start to finish and will leave you wanting more from our heroine, Lara, who finally got the game she deserves.
Through the years I’ve had a love/hate relationship with the Tomb Raider franchise. Being a female myself I was instantly smitten with the idea of controlling an intelligent female protagonist. Despite her extremely short-shorts and well endowed chest, Lara had credibility as a dual gun wielding action/adventurer who became an icon in the “boys club” of memorable video game characters. Unfortunately for Lara, she was always kind of one-dimensional and through the years lacked character development and was slowly forgotten as her male counterparts progressed and became multi-dimensional.

A brand new Thief is coming!
Last Updated on Thursday, 7 March 2013 03:38 Written by LoganDX Thursday, 7 March 2013 03:38
Eidos Montréal just doffed off the top of a new Thief coming in the future. Now we’re not talking the oft rumored Thief 4 that fans have been patiently waiting for, we’re looking at a redone Garrett is all his thieving glory.
Time has moved on. Power has shifted. New greed replaces the old.
But to remain free in the city of chains – that is still the greatest prize.
First I stole to survive… then I survived to steal.
I am one man; I hear your secrets, see your hidden truths.
I am the shadows, the dark and deadly, the velvet night. You will not see me coming.I am Garrett….What’s yours is mine.
For those not in the know, the Thief series follows the elusive Garrett as he sneaks around a mash-up of steampunk fantasy and Victorian era backdrops ripping off anyone he wants to. The player uses all manner of stealth tactics to stay in the dark and avoid detection as he goes about his merry way.
The new Thief promises to deliver a more dynamic experience for all of us morally grey pocket clearers. If the press release is to be believed, we might have a Witcher style story full of twists and moral conundrums.
