“Armageddon” screams the preacher in the latest Metro: Last Light video. [VIDEO]

In their latest media splurge, THQ has started up “Survivor Stories” for Metro: Last Light. Now this isn’t to be confused with the yearly WWE (also a THQ license) pay-per-view, Survivor Series, Survivor Stories will tell tales of folks’ lives before and during the apocalypse. This first video takes time to hear what the preacher bellowing “Armageddon!” has to say about the beginning of the end and what his life is like now.

I always like it when promos take a slant like this, making it more “real”. We get bombarded every day by million dollar hype, now we get to experience something more gritty and live. The live action trailers and videos THQ is doing for the game makes me want to play it even more. Hit the break and peep the first of many more videos featuring the survivors in the Metro.

Thieves have to change pants after run in with The Rock!

Whether you like WWE wrestling or not, you have to admit Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson is a hell of an imposing mountain of muscles and adrenaline. Imagine that beast like figure chasing after you, dressed as a FBI agent, bearing down on you as you attempt to break into a van near him. You ran, didn’t you? Don’t feel bad as the same thing happened in real life to a group of British punks looking for a quick score.

The incident happened while The Rock was filming a take for the upcoming Fast and the Furious 6 a.k.a. Fast 6. The People’s Champ spied the crooks and kicked it into high gear, chasing after the now scared witless youths. Johnson added an extra touch by waving his fake badge as he bore down on the scoreless dopes. Yep, all they got for their efforts was a heart attack, some cardio and I’m assuming the burning need to put on clean underpants.

The cameras were rolling when it all went down so let’s hope it becomes a special feature for the blu-ray! Does this mean he gets hazard pay as both an actor and now a one-man security force?

Smells Like Geek Spirit

If you like music and are a geek you should give a listen to the band I Fight Dragons. The band incorporates chiptune with melodic rock music. Chiptune is new music created on obsolete video game sound cards such as Nintendo’s Gameboy. And how could you not love a band whose bio poses the question “What do you get when a Pulitzer Prize Winner, a Nobel Laureate, a Rhodes Scholar and a Robot get together and form a band?”

Their latest cd is called KABOOM! and recently they teamed up with Nintendo to release an exclusive 3D video for their song “Save World Get Girl”. The video is available on the Nintendo Video service app if you have a 3DS. The band hails from Chicago and released two EP’s before they released KABOOM!, their first full length cd.

Brian Mazzaferri, lead singer/songwriter for the band initially came up with the name I Fight Dragons by coming up with a T-shirt design of a guy holding a sword and shield that he felt represented everything art and music should be, “putting oneself on the line and fighting one’s own fears and demons (and dragons).” The T-shirt eventually turned into the impetus of the band he began forming.  Lifelong fan of video games Brian was bound and determined to incorporate the classic 8 bit sounds with pop/rock which he describes as “Weezer meets Postal Service inside a Nintendo.” Read more: Smells Like Geek Spirit
