Think You’re Lucky? You Might Be, For the Right Price! Minecraft Xperia Play up for Grabs!

How lucky you are sometimes depends on a little bit of chance and a whole lot of money!  Ask those unlucky people like Charlie Sheen and Wesley Snipes, how could things turn so bad…so fast??  Well, my friends, you have the ability to change your luck today (or rather in about 6 days)!

A limited edition Minecraft Xperia Play will be given away at Gamescon later this week.  Gamescon is the largest trade fair for Interactive games and entertainment.   It goes on from August 18-21 and is available for anyone that can make it to Europe.  Not traveling, you say?  Well, you can still cash in on this bad boy as it is currently being auctioned off on eBay.  The limited edition is being auctioned off by Mojang to benefit a charity of the Minecraft team’s choice.

Verizon Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY Pre-Order Starting May 17th

Verizon just announced a few hours ago that pre-orders for the Sony Ericsson Xperia PLAY, or PSP phone, would be starting on May 17th. They also said that the phone would be available for pick up on May 26th at the price of $199.99. The Xperia PLAY will be running Gingerbread on a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdraon 2 processor with a Adreno 205 GPU. It also has a 4-inch multi-touch screen and a slide-out gaming pad similar to the PSP. In case that wasn’t enough it has a VGA front-facing camera for those video chats, and a 5-megapixel rear camera.

I played with one of these phones at I/O and it was pretty slick. If I hadn’t just got the Thunderbolt then this would definitely be a possibility for me. The games run very smooth and with great graphics, I played Crash Bandicoot and it was epic. I recommend at least going to play with one when it comes out. Follow the break for the press release.

Sony Xperia Neo Launch Delayed, PLAY And Arc Volumes Affected By Japan Quake

Hopefully you haven’t been dying to get your hands on a Sony Xperia Neo because you will have to wait a little longer than expected. Sony Ericsson on Friday released a statement that says the product will be delayed until the 3rd quarter because of supply chain disruptions due to the Japan earthquake. Both the PLAY and Arc were affected also but not enough to delay the launches. Here is the official statement:

As Sony Ericsson continues to assess the impact of the situation in Japan on its business, we have communicated to our operator customers and distributors that some volume of Xperia arc, Xperia PLAY and Xperia neo phones has been affected. Xperia neo has already been introduced to the marketplace in limited quantities. However, due to supply chain disruptions resulting from the situation in Japan, we have shifted the timing of Xperianeo’s broader launch and it is now planned for early Q3.

We will address this topic at the time of our Q1 financial results announcement call that is scheduled for April 19, 2011.

Maybe Sony Is Serious About Their Android Offerings, Somewhat

Sony Erricsson is known for their lack of upgrade support for all of their Android phones. I would even go as far to say that Sony is worse than Samsung on upgrading. It seems that Sony may be trying to change that image though. If you remember, Sony had said that the X10 series of phones would see no update past Android 2.1 Eclair. Well, something over at their offices changed their minds. Sony is now saying the the X10 (phone, not series) will be upgraded. Not to Froyo though, to Gingerbread!

Hopefully, this is a good sign of things to come from Sony Ericsson.
