Former Supergirl and Superman Helen Slater and Dean Cain are in recurring roles on Supergirl right now and one more familiar face from past Superman adaptations is about to popup soon.
Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives, The Odd Couple) will come onto the current second season of The CW superhero series for a multi-episode arc in a “mysterious new role” and that is all the information released about the casting.
From 1993-1997, Hatcher played Lois Lane opposite Dean Cain’s Clark Kent/Superman on Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. The series was a more lighter, romantic comedy approach to Lois and Clark’s relationship that was the focus as much as Superman’s superhero adventures.
It certainly stuck with series co-creator and executive producer Andrew Kreisberg who said in a statement of the casting, “No offense to any of the wonderful actresses who have also played the part, but Teri Hatcher is my all-time favorite Lois Lane. To have her come back to the SuperWorld in a completely different part is an unbelievable gift to me, Greg [Berlanti], and the fans.”
Given a main storyline of the season right now is finding Dean Cain’s Jeremiah Danvers and that Hatcher is in a mystery role, there might be a chance we see them together on screen again.
Legacy casting continues through the DC shows on CW. In addition to the ones previously mentioned on Supergirl, the show itself has Laura Vandervoort, who played Supergirl on Smallville as villain Indigo. Then of course there is The Flash who cast not just John Wesley Shipp who played Barry Allen/The Flash on the 1990 series from CBS, but Mark Hamill and Amanda Pays too and reprising their roles from the original show.
I’m looking forward to Hatcher on the show since I’ll admit I still have a little bit of a soft spot Lois & Clark. I grew up watching it and yeah its pretty cheesy, but its still a really enjoyable Superman series.
How excited are you for Hatcher’s arrival on the series? Which other actor from a past Superman property do you wanna see show up? Did you enjoy Lois & Clark? Let us know in the comments below!
