Recently the Internet was sent into a frenzy of thought and confusion over comments recently made by Sony exec Amy Pascal as to the relation between what Spider-Man will be doing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the Spider-Verse of films that Sony are well into planning for right now.
Pascal originally said, “Both movies will now take place in the world that we are creating for Peter Parker. They’ll be adjuncts to it, they may be different locations, but it will still all be in the same world. And they will be connected to each other as well.”
Well Pascal has spoken again and this time is has settled the situation clearly.
Pascal said in a statement, “Here’s what we’re doing: all these characters are a part of the Marvel comic book universe. In that universe, they are all related to each other. Kevin [Feige] makes characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. These characters are separate, except for Spidey, who belongs in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is why he’s there.”
Spider-Man will swing and fly around with Iron Man all the live long day while Venom, Silver Sable, and Black Cat go on in their own films without everyone’s favorite wall crawler. Good, I can finally put away the Tylenol.
Kevin Feige did say when asked if it was the official confirmation that, “We never say never,” as to a Spider-Man and Venom crossover. But did point out that he could say the same about any character coming into a Spider-Man film or anywhere in the MCU. “You could ask me, ‘Is Superman gonna be there?’ I go, ‘Never say never,’ but not any time soon.”
Well the lines have been drawn and now we know where everyone stands. PARTY TIME!
