The First Official Trailer for Alien: Covenant has Hatched (VIDEO)

Ridley Scott’s return to the Alien franchise, Prometheus was not too good. It potentially had a great idea in exploring the origins of humanity, what exactly the Engineers were, and how the threat known as the Xenomorphs came to be. Plus it looked great and had a stellar cast. What went wrong? Just about everything really from huge holes in the script and logic, missing scenes that would’ve explained things better, characters you didn’t much care for, and the lack of suspense and tension that the franchise is known for.

So now there is just a little bit more pressure on the latest installment in the series, Alien: Covenant. Not just in acting as a bridge from Prometheus to the original Alien, but to not let fans down again. You can judge for yourself it’ll do that by watching the first official trailer below!

Well this movie doesn’t look to be messing around. Right off the bat with going red band its clearly how much more horror based this installment will be. It looks great and sleekly designed, but so was Prometheus. Covenant here looks much darker and murkier in contrast however; not pulling punches as shown by the Xenomorph.

We see that Michael Fassbender and Noomi Rapace are back as David and Dr. Elizabeth Shaw respectively and making up the crew of the Covenant are Katherine Waterson (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Danny McBride (Vice Principals), Demi├ín Bichir (The Hateful Eight), and Billy Crudup (Watchmen) as the crew’s captain who looks to get up close and personal with a Facehugger.

Hopefully what we just saw here can translate into a revitalization of the Alien film series.
