The X-Men Come to Primetime in the First Trailer for The Gifted

written by Jordan Cobb May 15, 2017

The X-Men franchise continues to expand with the current crop of films, Legion on FX, and of course taking up a good portion of Marvel’s publishing line. But now they will have a primetime network television show, something Fox has been very keen on for a while. Well here’s our first look at said show, The Gifted.

While this is certainly an X-Men show, it’ll also more or less be a family drama too and that can blend well with a superhero setting. Certainly works for The Flash right now.

Also worth noting is that we now know who from the X-Men world will jump from page to screen here. Blink, who was first seen in Days of Future Past, Polaris, and Thunderbird played by Jamie Chung, Emma Dumont, and Blair Redford respectively.

Now having seen what the template of the show is, I think this could work. You got a family right at the core of it and as always the allegory that the X-Men do represent ever since their debut. Plus we have a reluctant antagonist and I find that always fascinating. The effects do indeed look good and given how good effects have been on TV in the past few year, this looks to be satisfactory.

What did you think of the trailer? Are you excited for the show? Who from the comics do you want to show up? Let us know in the comments below!

The Gifted will premiere on Fox sometime this fall.
