The Thor: Ragnarok Blu-ray/DVD dropped March 6, 2018. Shopping for your MCU-obsessed friends just got easier.
Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok reenvisions Thor with rich three-dimensional thinking. Thor feels relevant and in line with its comic source material. Using Asgardian history to introduce characters like Hela and Valkyrie (thank you Cate and Tessa) revitalizes Thor’s franchise and brings a real edge back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The fresh lines and fantastic action sequences driving this story created a plot that makes sense even after re-watch.
Thor: Ragnarok is not only the best of the franchise, it’s one of the best films in the MCU and fitting tribute to Jack Kirby’s work.
Thor: Ragnarok Blu-ray Extras
Four behind the scenes featurettes provide an amazing amount of insight into Waititi’s approach to bring Thor closer to the comics and bring back the fun to this part of the MCU.
Watching Taika Waititi talk about himself in the third person and as an abstract idea is worth it all on its own.
Thor: Ragnarok still holds up outside 3D. The deleted scenes only made me happier about the direction and story angles of theatrical release.
One of the best parts of owning any MCU Blu-ray/DVD is the gag reel. The Thor: Ragnarok Blu-ray/DVD doesn’t disappoint. There’s a bit of ridiculousness from the entire cast.
Team Darryl is a lo-fi mockumentary-style short film, much in the vein of Waititi’s What We Do in the Shadows. The short follows Darryl’s search for a new roommate now that Thor’s gone. It’s seven levels of what am I watching wrapped in hilarity.
