Having been in production since late June, production on the much anticipated Deadpool 2 seemed to be going well and we also got our first looks and new characters Domino and Cable. Sadly though, no production isn’t without its troubles.
Earlier this morning a motorcycle stunt on the set went wrong and cost the life of a stunt woman.
The incident occurred on the set in Vancouver and the local police department released a statement saying, “Vancouver Police can confirm that a female stunt driver has died on the set of ‘Deadpool’ during a stunt on a motorcycle.”
Ben Miljure, a CTV Vancouver news reporter, said that after the accident, the stunt woman was carried into an Advanced Life Support ambulance and left only 45 minutes later after that to the nearest hospital.
20th Century Fox has released a statement on the situation stating, “We are deeply saddened by the accident that occurred on the set of ‘Deadpool 2’ this morning. Our hearts and prayers are with the family, friends and colleagues of our crew member during this difficult time.”
Trish Knight Chernecki of WorkSafeBC has said that a long-term investigation into the incident has been immediately launched.
We here at Don’t Hate the Geek want to extend our best wishes and deepest condolences towards the friends and family of the stunt woman lost on the set of Deadpool 2 today.
