Right now the independent scene in professional wrestling is booming, especially in the United Kingdom. Some of the absolute best talents in the world have come out of the UK. Will Ospreay, Marty Scurll, Jimmy Havoc, Joe Hendry, Joe Coffey, etc.
WWE has seen this themselves with the introduction of the WWE United Kingdom Championship back earlier this year. They’ve been able to showcase great talents such as current champion Pete Dunne, former champion Tyler Bate, Trent Seven, Wolfgang, Jospeh Conners, and much more!
WWE has been expanding itself out in the UK region and working alongside several local promotions, one of the more notable ones being Insane Championship Wrestling. Well as luck should have it, WWE is currently touring around the UK and Paul “Triple H” Levesque just happened to turn up at the recent ICW show in Glasgow, Scotland! Check it out for yourself below!
It really is quite something to see such a high figure in WWE appearing within one of the top indie promotions in the world, but damn is it still cool!
ICW began in 2006 under Mark Dallas out of Glasgow. Dallas himself trained to be a wrestler and learned the business from the inside out. ICW is very far from what you may see on WWE on a weekly basis and in plenty of ways is a spiritual successor to the original Extreme Championship Wrestling. It is more adult oriented with more words than your mother would care to hear and more blood than one might wanna see. They are currently building towards their biggest event of the year, Fear & Loathing X taking place at the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on November 19.
What’s your reaction to this? Excited? Confused? Who from the UK do you wanna see in the WWE? Let us know in the comments below!
