UbiSoft to Patch Out Explicit Female Genitalia from Watch Dogs 2

written by Jordan Cobb November 16, 2016

We’ve all played a video game and totally submersed ourselves into the brand new world we’re exploring. You just completely lose yourself in the new surroundings and at some point stop to look around, drink it all in, and then notice something that seems just out of place. Such was the case for one Watch Dogs 2 player.

One player took a picture with the in-game camera from Watch Dogs 2 after he had discovered a fully rendered and very exposed vagina on a NPC after he had accidentally blown up a few women in a back alley, or so he says. He then shared the picture on his Twitter account and then took to an early release thread for the UbiSoft sequel on NeoGAF to discuss what he found. Of course this being the Internet, the very first comment was, “Pics or it didn’t happen,” and thus the pic was provided.

Then just as quick as it was posted, the player’s PlayStation Network account was suspended for a month. The account was suspended on the grounds of violating rules as it pertains to adult content or any content of a “sexual nature”.

UbiSoft later released a statement on the issue to Polygon where they stated their intention to provide a patch and fix the game. Stating, “While Watch Dogs 2 is a mature-rated game, we apologize and will update this NPC model to make it more consistent with other NPC models in the game in a patch to be released this week.” UbiSoft also stated that they are working with their first-party partners to ensure players can still share content within the codes of conduct of their first parties.

What an odd situation.

What do you think of this situation? Have you been playing Watch Dogs 2? What do you think of the game? Let us know in the comments below!
