One of the things most people can seem to agree on from the very divisive, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, is that Ben Affleck’s Dark Knight was a highlight thanks to the performance of Ben Affleck. He went from being hated for even being in the same sentence as The Dark Knight to everyone wanting him to have his own Batman film.
It’s been long put out there since just at San Diego Comic-Con International that Affleck and DC CCO and writer Geoff Johns would work on a solo Batman film which Affleck will direct, produce, co-write with Johns, and star in. While it’s yet to be announced, it has been confirmed that Affleck and Johns are indeed working on something, so the Batman speculation goes on. Said speculation has been that they might adapt from Johns’ Batman: Earth One books or make a live action adaptation of the Under the Red Hood storyline from the comics and highly popular animated film.
Well another piece of speculation has come via Devin Faraci of Birth.Movies.Death where a source close to him is saying that more than a hefty sum of Batman’s famed rogues gallery will be appearing in the movie, which Affleck and Johns are hoping will be the definitive Batman film.
Mainstays like the Joker, Riddler, Penguin, Two-Face, Poison Ivy, and Bane could reappear. But this could also mean big screen debuts for the likes of Mad Hatter, Clayface, Hush, Firefly, hell maybe even Crazy Quilt and Killer Moth as well. I mean this wouldn’t be the first Batman film where he’s taken on at least more than two villains. The 1966 film based off the Adam West series did it.
Well what do you think of this news? Should the Caped Crusader take on more than one threat or should those behind the movie keep some of them locked up in Arkham or Blackgate for the time being? Let us know in the comments below!
