Hey guys, we had a good laugh about Zac Efron possibly playing Venom in the upcoming solo movie from Sony right? Yeah April Fool’s is a cruel day, but hey we can now confirm that Venom does have its star now and his name is Tom Hardy!
Yes, Mad Max is becoming the darker side of Spider-Man in the long awaited spinoff film. The star of the upcoming Dunkirk is said to be in the final stages of negotiations for the film that is slated to come out in October of next year so getting its lead right now is crucial to actually making Venom a reality.
Oh and there was this tweet from the studio themselves.

Venom also now does have a director in the form of Zombieland director, Ruben Fleisher so hey, those are two big hurdles crossed on the way to finally making this happen.
Venom having his own movie has been a top priority for Sony’s for years. Even before making his appearance in Spider-Man 3 they have always wanted to focus a movie off of Spider-Man’s most notable villain. Hardy himself won’t be a stranger to comic book adaptations as he is most remembered for his performance as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises. That and the millions of impersonations of his Bane from nearly everyone. Including you and your aunt. Admit it, you both did it together when just hanging out.
October 5, 2018 is still the planned release date for Venom and given we’re nearly halfway through 2017, that production is going have to be ran like a tight ship in order to make its planned release date.
