Warhammer 40,000: Freeblade was available for Apple devices already, but now it’s available for Android users too. I’ve enjoyed the Warhammer 40,000 franchise since I was a kid, and the increasing quality and variety of games taking place in the Warhammer 40,000 universe warms my heart.
Freeblade lets you field a massive mech war machine, an Imperial Knight, against enemy factions. You are armed with a gigantic chainsword and a variety of upgradable guns as you stomp over Ork and Chaos forces. It’s a free-to-play game, so there’s plenty of opportunity for upgrading your Knight’s wargear.
As I’ve come to expect from Warhammer 40,000 games, the graphics are beautiful. Every detail true to the look and feel of the Warhammer 40,000 hobby game that inspired it. The gameplay is intuitive and addicting, using a tap-to-shoot interface to blast massive holes in the enemy’s tanks and titans, and decimate troops.
There’s even a social element that allows you to compete with other players for the best score, and to participate in daily events. Future updates will bring more wargear, more decorative livery, and more armor.
If your mouth is still watering from the Battlefleet Gothic article I wrote yesterday, this will satisfy the itch well.
