Turtle Rock Studios
Video game developer Turtle Rock Studios is working on a new “Globally Known Game Franchise”. Turtle Rock studios posted a job listing this week for a senior level designer to begin work on this new game. The job, for those wondering, is in Lake Forest, CA, and is looking for a designer with over 5 years of experience. They’re looking for someone who can work with a AAA title. So for those who don’t know what that means, those are the big games; your Halo, Call of Duty, GTA, etc. They are the big budget games and big sellers, so this is a big deal. The job listing also mentions it is for a first-person shooter and the designer will also be helping to “create competitive and balanced map layouts”. So what could this known franchise be? Well, Turtle Rock Studios has only made 4 big titles.
Turtle Rock Studios doesn’t have too many globally known franchises under its belt but we are hoping it is one of them. I’ll start with the most hopeful one, Half-Life 2. It is part of Valve’s original cornerstones. Anticipation for Part 3 has been swirling since the sequel’s release in 2004. As exciting as this title would be, it’s probably not going to happen, sorry. Next, we have Counter-Strike. I’m not holding out hope for this one either, but it has been a fan favorite over the years. After that we have Evolve. Now this one is a real possibility. With two games in the franchise already, Evolve is set to become a trilogy and cement the franchise. However, the game didn’t really do that well. In fact, in September 2018, the servers will be shut down for stage 2. Yet another game that probably isn’t going to happen. So that leaves one possibility – one highly anticipated game: Left 4 Dead.
‘Left 4 Dead 3’?
Turtle Rock Studios’ Left 4 Dead was a smash hit when it was originally released 10 years ago. It was so popular they came out with a sequel a year later and even tied in the original game with a map called The Sacrifice. Left 4 Dead fits all of the job description’s key points, too. So what would a new Left 4 Dead mean in the current console generation? Would they try to make a VR version for PlayStation? Would we get to finally see where all the characters go after they finally escape? With so many possibilities, it’s easy to say they have a ton to work with. Fans of the series have been waiting for a third game since Left 4 Dead 2 came out in 2009. This title is one I personally am very hopeful for, which I’ve mentioned on this site before. It’s a go-to game for friends to join together and fight for survival against hordes of zombies.
