Wii-U’s Minecraft is Getting a Super Mario Makeover

Super Mario is coming to the Wii U Edition of Minecraft this May with a new theme that will make gamers smile with nostalgia.

The Super Mario ‘Mash-up’ theme pack will be available on May 17th as a free download. The skins will include some beloved characters from the franchise (and some not-so-beloved) such as Princess Peach, Mario and Luigi, Bowser, and even Wario. The texture pack will also include item skins as well as music that will make you believe you stepped straight into a Mario game.

The pack is set to include 40 new skins and a total of 15 new sound tracks. But every new addition can’t be 1-Ups and Princess Peaches – there are some new enemies coming into town. Minecraft will now have more than just a few creepers to contend with; Dry Bones, Hammer Bros, and other enemies seen in the Super Mario Bros franchise will be making their appearance in the game.

As of right now, the Wii U version of Minecraft is only available as a digital download but it will be hitting retail stores on June 17th. According to Nintendo, the Super Mario Mash-Up pack will already be included when the physical game drops.

And if you or someone you know has autism, there’s a Minecraft server specifically designed for that that you can check out here.
