Killing Nazis and Taking Acid: ‘Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus’ Announced, Out This Year!

written by Jason Marcano June 12, 2017

Bethesda nailed their E3 press conference. Even though a new Fallout or Elder Scrolls game wasn’t announced, there was plenty to love about the barrage of trailers. It’s the trailer that closed out the night however that was the most impressive. Wolfenstein II: The New Order was the icing on an already sweet cake. To make the news even better, like all the games announced on the stage, Wolfenstein II: The New Colossus will be out this year. You can start taking America back from the Nazis on October 27, 2017 for Xbox, PlayStation, and PC. Check out the bombastic and hilarious 8 minute trailer below.

Killing Nazis and Taking Names

There is a ton to unpack here. Wolfenstein II sees the return of BJ Blazkowicz, AKA “Terror-Billy,” after surviving an assassination attempt in the first game. In the sequel BJ, now a prospective father of twins, will traverse an alternate version of 1961 America with a group of returning characters, and some new ones, to purge the Nazi occupation. This resistance, lead by Billy, is trying to start the second American Revolution by taking down Frau Engel, the evil blonde commanding the Nazi army.

That’s definitely a face I want to take a hatchet to. Speaking of hatchets meeting faces; I’m sure you noticed BJ’s new toy in the trailer.

The hatchet will make its debut in Wolfenstein II alongside familiar Laserkraftwerk and Dieselkraftwerk weapons. The former is energy based, the latter is more kinetic and explosive. BJ will also be able to dual-wield many combinations of his guns, all of which are fully upgrade-able. Whether you strike from the shadows or come in guns blazing, Bethesda promises there will be a weapon for every occasion.
