Disney has made it official, Woody Harrelson is in the Han Solo film!
We recently reported that Disney was eyeing Hunger Games alum Woody Harrelson for the role of Han Solo’s mentor in the character’s upcoming solo film. Christian Bale was also rumored to be interested in the role. Disney has made it official. Directors Phil Lord and Christopher Miller had this to say about Harrelson’s casting:
“We couldn’t be more excited to work with an artist with as much depth and range as Woody,” they said. “His ability to find both humor and pathos, often in the same role, is truly unique. He is also very good at ping pong.”
We have no other details about the role, so stay tuned for more information as it comes in.
The still-untitled Han Solo film stars Alden Ehrenreich as the title character. It also stars Donald Glover as Lando Calrissian and Emilia Clarke in an unknown role. The film is slated to release sometime in 2018. It also takes place prior to Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope during Han’s “early scoundrel days.”
What do you think of the news? Harrelson’s addition could make for a lot of fun with a character as charismatic as Han. We’d love to hear your thoughts, so join in on the conversation in the comments below!
