Woody Harrelson: Mentor to a young Han Solo
Han Solo is getting his own standalone film, and from the news we’ve heard so far, it’s shaping up to be a lot of fun. Things may be getting even better; Variety has reported that Woody Harrelson is in early talks to play the role of Han’s mentor in the film.
Recently Harrelson played the role of another young hero’s mentor in the Hunger Games films. Variety adds that he “is the top choice to play Han Solo’s mentor.”
The talks are still in very early stages, so we may not ever see this come to fruition. I think that casting him in a role like that for a character as charismatic as Han is a slam-dunk, though.
If he signs on for the film, he’ll be joining Alden Ehrenreich (Han Solo), Donald Glover (Lando Calrissian) and Emilia Clarke who is playing a new character in the franchise.
The film will also take place before Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope. It will chronicle the life of Han prior to his heroics in the original Star Wars trilogy. As of right now, the film is slated to hit theaters sometime in 2018, but may start filming as soon as February 2017.
What do you guys think of this? Would you like to see Woody Harrelson in the role of Han’s mentor? If not him, who else would you like to see in the role? There are a lot of possibilities, so join in on the conversation in the comments below and tell us your ideas!
