Over the past few years, fans of pro-wrestling have bore witness to women’s wrestling like they’ve never seen it before. What started out as the Divas Revolution has become a constant in the WWE of their best gals stealing the show. In many cases, the ladies of WWE wrestle harder and better than most of the men and fans have taken notice.
In the past fans were quick to write off women’s matches as not worth investing in, no more. Thanks to the likes of Paige, Charlotte, Sasha Banks, and so many others the women of WWE have the attention of the people in front of and behind the curtain. This last week the Women’s Division crossed a huge milestone when all the of WWE’s main programs, Raw, SmackDown, and NXT were headlined by women’s matches for the first time in history.
The Women Of WWE Take Center Stage
Raw was headlined by a gauntlet match to determine the new #1 contender featuring Emma, Dana Brooke, Bayley, Nia Jax, and won by Sasha Banks. Banks will now go on to face Raw Champion Alexa Bliss at the Great Balls of Fire PPV. SmackDown had the second Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match after the first ended in questionable circumstances. Once again Carmella came out on top of Charlotte, Tamina, Natalya, and Becky Lynch and is still Miss Money in the Bank, guaranteeing her a shot at the SmackDown Women’s Championship whenever she wants it. They saved the best for last as Asuka defended her title and legendary undefeated streak against Nikki Cross in WWE’s first ever Last Woman Standing Match on NXT. Asuka came out on top after a brutal, hardcore battle.
Triple H and wife Stephanie McMahon, who continue to play a big part in the Women’s Division’s success behind the scenes, celebrated this milestone with the fans on Twitter.
