One day after rape allegations were reported against WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore (Eric Arndt), World Wrestling Entertainment has released the wrestler.
News of the incident first came out yesterday when Philomeena Sheahan took to Twitter to speak out about what happened on October 19, 2017, in a hotel room in Phoenix, AZ at Clarendon Hotel and Spa.
OKAY..it’s been long enough & I have been so so scared to share this. I was raped in mid October by the WWE Enzo Amore (also known as Eric Arden) & Tyler Grosso & TOOPOOR let it happen as accomplices. I was in a mental hospital for 45 days after it. They ARE NOT good people. pic.twitter.com/VhyG6oaDwg

The police responded on Oct. 23 to a sexual assault call that happened at said hotel days earlier. Further information was not released.
The initial response was to suspend Arndt, stating:
WWE has zero tolerance for matters involving sexual harassment or sexual assault. Until this matter is resolved, Eric Arndt (aka Enzo Amore) has been suspended.
This effectively cancelled his upcoming Cruiserweight Championship defense at this Sunday’s Royal Rumble.
As of today, he was officially released when WWE issued the following statement.
WWE has come to terms on the release of Eric Arndt (Enzo Amore).
Arndt has not spoken out about the news, but his friend @toopoor_ has spoken out on Twitter.
I was horrified to hear about this alleged assault. I have always supported other girls and do not accept this kind of behaviour. I wasn’t present when this alleged sexual assault happened.

Arndt had been with WWE ever since 2012, coming up through the NXT developmental system and forming an ever-popular tag team with Big Cass (William Morrissey) until their split last summer.
This is the second Cruiserweight member of WWE to find themselves in trouble with the law as former champion Rich Swann was, and as of writing, is still suspended from the company. Charges of domestic assault and false imprisonment of his wife came out last month.
The #MeToo movement of women speaking out against sexual assault in the past has rocked nearly every aspect of the entertainment and pop culture world. It doesn’t seem to be slowing down anytime soon, particularly here in our own world of geekdom.
What is your reaction to the news of this? Were the right actions taken with Arndt? Let us know in the comments!
[UPDATE]: Arndt has released a statement speaking of the situation on Twitter.
