Tencent, a Chinese gaming social network, and Activision partnered up about a year ago in order to release Call of Duty Online beta to China’s mainland. This free-to-play part of the Call of Duty franchise was developed by Activision Shanghai and Raven Software. The game does have a new story line, however, it still draws from the same type of features we see in the gaming franchise.
Activision and Tencent released a live action trailer around the holidays which also includes some real gameplay. There is a face in the trailer you might recognize, Chris Evans, from Marvel movies such as Captain America and The Avengers.
There hasn’t been word of a release of Call of Duty Online for the United States. It is thought that because in China, PCs are the most common way for players to game and free-to-play MMOs are the most popular which allows Activision to get in on that market.
