On March 24, Executive Producers Doug Liman and Gene Klein, Showrunner Lauren LeFranc, and stars Missi Pyle, Maddie Hasson, and Daniel Maslany hit the WonderCon stage for a discussion about YouTube Red’s original series Impulse. They brought along the teaser trailer and never-before-seen footage to whet the audience’s appetite for the upcoming series!
What Is ‘Impulse’?
Impulse returns to the Jumper Universe with a sequel loosely based on the second in the series by Steven Gould. YouTube Red’s story features Henrietta “Henry” Coles (Maddie Hasson), a rebellious sixteen-year-old. Henry does not feel like her peers and wants nothing more than to escape from her seemingly quaint small town. She soon discovers she has the extraordinary ability to teleport. This newfound power confirms her conviction that she really was different from everybody else, but it now makes her the focus of those who want to control her.
During the panel discussion, Jumper director Doug Liman explained that this sequel gave him the opportunity to return and do all the things he didn’t feel he “got right” in Jumper even better. This time around, the story dives into the emotional aspects of the characters, as well as the action associated with their powers.
Check out the trailer because it looks like Liman and crew are swinging for the fences:
Impulse starts streaming on YouTube Red this summer. This may be just the thing to tip the scales when making that decision to sign up for a new service.
