We’ve known for quite a while that The Witcher would be getting a live-action series on Netflix. We have also known that the series will be produced by Sean Daniel and Jason Brown. We even knew that the author and general mastermind of The Witcher character, Andrzej Sapkowski, is thrilled that his work will be adapted into a series!
What little we didn’t know was revealed Friday, April 20, 2018, when Lauren S. Hissrich (executive producer and writer of the adaptation), spilled the beans!
Hear, Hear:
Apparently, The Witcher series will be getting a total of eight episodes. This, by the way, seems to be a small number of episodes for a story arc like the ones in the game and books. However, as Hissrich said:
I know, I know, it may not seem like enough for you, but creatively, it’s the right call.
Moreover, the series will most likely be released in 2020. Again, there’s no need to rage against the producers, writers, and general team of the series! Hissrich promised that they’ll be bringing the series to our screens, “as soon as humanly possible”.
In one of her tweets, Hissrich mentioned that the script for the pilot episode of The Witcher has been finalized, although it still needs a bit of polishing. What’s more, she’s expecting a team of writers to join her in her quest to write the rest of the remaining 7 episodes.
Finally, Hissrich revealed that they will be shooting in Eastern Europe and that the cast has yet to be chosen! Oh, and, apparently, we can expect a few more seasons! Fingers crossed!
I have several seasons mapped out in my head — the rest is in the hands of the gods. (And by "gods," I mean the viewers who watch and keep watching). In terms of characters, I can't confirm anyone without revealing spoilers. Except Geralt. And Roach, of course. 🐴♥️

Here’s the entire ‘Witcher’ thread on Twitter:
EIGHT EPISODES. Yes! I know, I know, it may not seem like enough for you, but creatively, it's the right call. The episodes can be tight, action-packed, rich in character and story, without lagging in the middle of the season. Sounds good to me, sound good to you?

THE SCRIPT NEEDS POLISHED. I'd take a step back from that to say: the scripts need WRITTEN. I've finished the pilot, which yes, will be polished more when we cast/shoot. The other 7 episodes don't yet exist, except in my head. And guess what? New writers are joining me soon, too!

ANYTHING ELSE? I'm here. (And no, we haven't cast yet. Don't even try.) ♥️

Do you think the series will be a hit or a miss? Who do you think should be cast as Gerald? Let us know in the comments!
