Geek Blu Review: X-Men: First Class [VIDEO]

For just over a decade now, we geeks have been living in a golden age of comic book movies. Starting with the first X-Men movie and steamrolling through Spider-Man, Iron Man, Batman Begins, Captain America, Thor, The Dark Knight and further with the upcoming Avengers movie. For the most part, these movies have shown us how new technology and a big budget can bring to life the four-color adventures we so cherish. While not every movie will be considered great (Daredevil), each movie has brought out the geek in all of us.

When X-Men: First Class was revealed as a prequel, I was disturbed. My opinion on prequels notwithstanding, I wanted more of the future of the X-Men! But we don’t always get what we want, right? Since I most identify with these Children of the Atom and their plight of being outcasts, I was still very much ready to see the beginning of the X-Men and Charles Xavier’s School for the Gifted. Exploring the dynamic between Xavier and Lensherr and the split that would forever make them enemies. The creation of the X-Men and the Brotherhood. Xavier going from an upright walking individual to wheelchair bound professor. All of these would be seen and more. Read on to find out my geek opinion about the Blu ray release.

SheGeek View Of The Week: Making a Case for Daredevil

Every time I mention Daredevil in a conversation people dismiss him. Even if I’m chatting with someone online, I can almost feel them roll their eyes. In fact, the only person I’ve ever met who is excited about the character was a waiter at Applebee’s.

I took my daughter there for dinner a few weeks ago, he saw I was wearing one of my many comic book t-shirts and we got to talking. His favorite comic book character is Daredevil and boy howdy, was he passionate. I loved it though because I think Daredevil is a great superhero who doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

First, who is Daredevil? He’s a man who lost his sight and had his remaining senses heightened when he came into contact with a radioactive chemical as a young boy. He’s Matt Murdock the blind lawyer by day and Daredevil the crime fighter by night. He doesn’t have showy abilities like other superheroes and perhaps that is why people underestimate him.

Daredevil To Get a Reboot?

Will the man without fear make a sequel to the big screen? Rumors have been abounding about this one, but don’t expect that Ben Affleck will be back to reprise the role of Matt Murdock. Things are starting to get heated up as Twilight Saga: Eclipse director David Slade has been announced to be the director for the movie.

Slade is also known for directing 30 Days of Night and Hard Candy. Certainly this brings into rumors as to whether Robert Pattinson could play Matt Murdock. Slade and Pattinson have been huge names and if anyone will connect with new fans it would certainly be a popular name like Robert Pattinson. Read more about Daredevil reboot.
