The Lego Films Just Keep Coming! First Look at The Lego Ninjago Movie

The dust hasn’t even settle on The Lego Batman Movie’s release yet and Warner Bros. is already en-route to bringing us Lego film number 2 in 2017. The Lego Ninjago Movie is slated for a September premiere, and the film’s first trailer gives us an idea of what to expect. Let’s check it out together.

The Lego Movie Formula

One takeaway from this trailer is that, like the Lego video game series, the Lego films have certainly got a formula to them. Although I think in Ninjago, it is much more apparent. Sure, these are “kids” movies, but they’re made with the knowledge that parents will be taking their children to see them, so the writers make sure to sneak in a couple of double entendres and other bits that will (hopefully) go over the little ones’ heads. For that reason, the Lego films appeal to viewers of all ages, and Ninjago will most likely do well in the box office.

The Lego Batman Movie‘s lesson was the importance of team work. In the original Lego Movie, the value of family, specifically the relationship between father and son, was explored. In The Lego Ninjago Movie both of these issues seem to be touched on. With the main group of heroes learning to work together to overcome the odds while main character Lloyd struggles with a strained relationship with his father. Lloyd’s dad also happens to be the main antagonist in Ninjago.

Starring Jackie Chan, Olivia Munn, and James Franco, The Lego Ninjago movie will be out this September. Warner Bros. must have some master builders on staff to be able to put out so much Lego content so quickly. What do you geeks think? Are you going to see The Lego Ninjago Movie? Are you burnt out on these films? Sound off in the comments and stick with DHTG for all your geeky news.
