Okay, first things first. I absolutely loved Tomb Raider. And no, I’m not talking about the movie, I’m talking about the game. You know, the one released in 2013 by Square Enix. The one you spent around 120 hours playing, just to find all the hidden relics and pages and collectibles. That one!
Well, Square Enix released a wonderful trailer and I now I can’t wait to play the game.
Here’s what we know so far:
Lara will be yet again facing off against the Trinity organization. And just like every installment, we can easily presume that there will be an element of the supernatural. As well as the main mystery that has to unfold, puzzles that need solving and waves of goons that will need to uh… Cease to exist?
This time, Lara will explore a part of the world she hasn’t been to. In search of a Mayan relic, she will find herself in Latin America.
According to Square Enix:
In Shadow of the Tomb Raider, Lara must master a deadly jungle, overcome terrifying tombs and persevere through her darkest hour. As she races to save the world from a Maya apocalypse, Lara will ultimately be forged into the Tomb Raider she is destined to be.
While the full reveal trailer of Shadow of the Tomb Raider doesn’t have any gameplay (fear not, there’s a trailer later on the article), it’s as ominous as ever. With an eclipse shadowing her steps, we find Lara deep in a jungle, where she turns an ambush around. After killing Trinity’s goons, she climbs, leaps, almost drowns, and finally saves a kid from being sacrificed. Probably not such a good decision as a huge crowd of people is gathered to see the ancient ritual.
Remember when Rise of the Tomb Raider first came out, and it was exclusive just for Xbox One and Xbox 360? And then a few months later it was available for PC, but PlayStation 4 users had to wait for almost an entire year to get the “20-year celebration” edition? Well, unlike that, Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be available for PS4, Xbox One and Steam at the same time!
The gameplay trailer reveals a lot of firefights, more puzzle solving in order to explore tombs, and sets this game as the final, adventure of Lara Croft. One that we will not be able to forget easily.
Shadow of the Tomb Raider will be released on September 14th, 2018. And while we don’t have to wait too long for the game to be released, it still seems to be so far away.
