MILD SPOILERS FOR THE CODE GEASS ANIME SERIES!!! DO NOT READ ON IF YOU DO NOT WANT THE SERIES SPOILED!!!
Anime fans have something new to celebrate. During the 10th anniversary event for a Code Geass, Sunrise revealed that a new series is in the works. Along with the anime series, a three part film compilation is also in the works.
The new series, titled Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection, will take place several years after the events of Zero Requiem. The new series will be a direct sequel to the anime that last aired in 2008. Sunrise revealed that the hero will in fact be Lelouch, who died at the end of the second series.
Along with the new series, Sunrise is also working on a three part film series, recapping all of the episodes of Lelouch of the Rebellion and Lelouch of the Rebellion R2. The films will give fans a review of the series. The films will also help those not familiar with the series catch up before the new anime debuts. The first of the movies will release in early 2017. The original cast will return to re-record their lines for the film trilogy.
Plenty of questions are sure to arise from this news. As stated earlier, the hero of the series dies at the end of the second series. In an effort to stop a war from destroying the world, Lelouch sacrifices his life for the greater good. The new series will pick up after these events, which leads people to wonder if Lelouch really died or not. With resurrection in the title, magic could be the cause of the hero’s return.
