Will The CW Carry On With Wayward Sisters?

Back in January, Supernatural aired an episode that was meant to serve as a pilot for the spin-off Wayward Sisters. However, the CW has opted not to move forward with the much-anticipated Supernatural spin-off. Executive producer Andrew Dabb  announced the news on Twitter today:

Fans of Supernatural will remember the January episode simply titled “Wayward Sisters” in which Dean and Sam went missing and we got to see Jody, Claire, Patience, Alex, Donna, and Kaia help to recover the Winchester brothers from the Bad Place.

The women, as most women in Supernatural, were smart, brave, and full of energy. The backdoor pilot ended with Claire doing a voice-over calling the women her family, her army:

“I came back to Sioux Falls to save Sam and Dean Winchester, and I did. No, we did. We saved Sam and Dean. All of these amazing women, my family. They don’t know it yet — they think I’m staying because I’m broken, but I’m staying because I need them, my family, my army. The thing that killed Kaia is still out there. And I don’t care if I have to tear another hole in the universe, we’re going to find it. And I’m going to kill it.”

It made me excited to see more of their story. I myself have enjoyed every episode with Jody, Donna, Claire, and Alex. I could not wait to see more of these fierce women and how Jody and Donna would continue to train the younger women. This spin-off was much more promising than the earlier attempt of Bloodlines (that series was meant to focus on hunters and monsters in Chicago), but now, the CW has opted not to move forward with this show.

As a fan, I am sad, disappointed and I’m not the only one. Cast members reacted on Twitter about the upsetting news. Is this the end of their stories? Dabb’s tweet makes it sound like there is still hope:

What do you think? How do you feel about the CW passing on the show? Should another network pick up Wayward Sisters? Tell us in the comments.
