Ghostbusters fans rejoice! A brand spanking new feature length documentary is on the way that will explore the making of the first two movies in more detail than ever before. Filmmaker siblings Anthony and Claire Bueno and their team have been hard at work for the last 8 years conducting all new interviews and gaining access to never before seen archival footage.
After self funding almost all aspects of their documentary, a Kickstarter campaign was set up to raise another £40,000 ($48,600) for one final trip to the U.S. to finish the last round of interviews and complete their film Cleanin’ Up The Town: Remembering Ghostbusters. They recently surpassed their target totalling a modest £44,188.
Now, 8 years is a long time to spend on one documentary, but it certainly has been worth it. In that time they’ve conducted over 70 interviews with a large chunk of the films cast and crew including Dan Aykroyd, Harold Ramis, Ernie Hudson and Sigourney Weaver. Director Ivan Reitman, producers Joe Medjuck and Michael C. Gross, visual effects crew Richard Edlund, John Bruno, Dennis Muren, Steve Johnson, Randall William Cook, Howie Weed and Ned Gorman. Ray Parker Jr., Randy Edelman and editor Sheldon Kahn. The obvious omission on this list is Bill Murray. He was tough to nail down for his cameo in the Ghostbusters reboot so imagine how hard it would have been to get him to reminisce yet again about a franchise he’s tired of talking about. Shame.
This brilliant looking documentary is currently nearing completion as Anthony and Claire Bueno edit the last batch of footage they filmed. The intention is to have part 1 of the documentary released in the spring and part 2 later in the year. The trailer alone is more than enough to whet the appetite of any hardcore Ghostbusters fan.
We’ll let you know when you can get your ghoulish mits on it!
