Wait, WHAT?! Marvel Announces Black Panther Vs. Deadpool Comic

Black Panther Vs. Deadpool

It looks like the King of Wakanda is going to have another challenger coming up. Deadpool, the Merc with a Mouth, is after vibranium, and the only way to get it is to go through the Black Panther. Black Panther Vs. Deadpool will be a five issue series releasing in October, with the team of Lockjaw and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert writer Daniel Kibblesmith and artist Ricardo Lopez Ortiz.

The description for the comic sounds epic:

For a reason he’d rather not disclose (Because, well, it makes him look bad!) Deadpool needs a piece of Vibranium… and the only way to get Vibranium is to go through the Black Panther himself! But Deadpool soon learns that his unconventional methods don’t exactly work against the king of the most technologically advanced country on the planet…

It leave a lot of questions for readers. What is so bad even Deadpool wont admit it? Is he stealing it for Spidey (probably)? Could this have all been fixed if he just explained things to Black Panther? Who knows! Editor Wil Moss expanded on the ideas that are going to be looked at in the comic a little bit.

Featuring a brawl you can only get in comics (for now anyway), Black Panther Vs. Deadpool is the best of both worlds, equal parts Black Panther/Wakanda and Deadpool/Crazytown. In bouncing these two characters off each other (and sometimes through each other), Daniel and Ricardo have found some really fascinating insights into what makes the tick as individuals.

That does, of course, raise the question, what happens when a man who just regenerates (and is sort of insane), faces off against a guy who has technology that can heal a bullet to the spine in a couple of hours, when you have two characters who don’t have a healthy fear of death trying to outdo the other? If nothing else, you get what sounds like an interesting comic.

Black Panther Vs. Deadpool comes out on October 3, 2018.

Are you looking forward to it or does it just sound too much like a money grab? Do you think the match up is going to make for some interesting conflict or do you think Marvel is missing the mark on this one? Let us know in the comments!
