…With a plan. I don’t know about you fellow geeks, but I’m really happy to see a certain actress returning to action films. Namely, Jennifer Garner. The Peppermint Trailer wasn’t half-way through and I already knew it was a film I didn’t intend to miss.
Most people first learned Graner’s name on the television show Alias and then pretended not to see Elektra so we could keep liking her. Hollywood has a way of kicking women out of the action seat as they age. But, Charlize Theron’s Atomic Blonde is one recent example of how very wrong studios have been…Peppermint looks to be another.
Enter Peppermint Starring Jennifer Garner
Official synopsis: Peppermint tells the story of Riley North (Garner) who awakens from a coma after her husband and daughter are killed in a brutal attack on the family.
When the system shields the murderers from justice, Riley transforms herself from regular citizen to an urban guerrilla fighter. Channeling her frustration into personal motivation, she spends years in hiding honing her mind, body, and spirit to become an unstoppable force – eluding the underworld, the LAPD, and the FBI- as she methodically delivers her personal brand of justice.
You may have seen more than one familiar face as the trailer rolled. The storyline may not be that original if you’re a big fan of urban thrillers (or urban fantasy) but the cinematography creates a gritty playground for this solid cast to play in. Given trailer maker’s habit of showing all the good stuff in trailers, this will be the last one I watch so I can live in hope that the film matches the teases and taunts in this one.
