Her Universe is a geek focused clothing company that since 2010 has created a wide range of women’s fashion featuring beloved franchises such as Star Wars, Marvel, Doctor Who, Transformers, Star Trek and more.
They are also known for hosting an annual “geek couture fashion show” in which prospective designers showcase a huge selection of franchise based fan-wear.
Last year, the winners of this competition, Leetal Platt and Kelly Cercone, created a line of Star Wars: The Force Awakens inspired clothing that created quite a buzz at the 2015 San Diego Comic-Con. The collection is now available at a “select” Hot Topic store near you, or online at HotTopic.com.
Perhaps even more intriguing, it seems more collections like this are currently in development. According to Her Universe spokesperson and Founder, Ashley Eckstein, in an interview with The Daily Dot;
This is just the beginning of what’s to come in 2016. We already have another Star Wars fashion collection in development that is amazing and I really think it’s crazy how far Star Wars fashion has come over the past five years. I mean, we wanted a T-shirt five years ago and now we’re talking to Lucasfilm about full fashion collections. It’s exciting.
Do you think Star Wars, and further, the geek aesthetic, is the way of the future? Take a look and tell us what you think!
