DHTG’s back for Weekend Giveaway: Adrift Novel Movie-Tie-In Edition

Every once in a while there’s a book that begs to be a film. Ok, if we listen to Hollywood then every book is just a film-in-waiting…But this time, Hollywood gets it very right and we have a weekend giveaway to celebrate.

Adrift is based on the memoir by Tami Oldham Ashcraft. It shares the almost unbelievable tale of her time lost at sea for 41 days. In anticipation of the June 1, release, I re-read the book.

It’s an inspiring, heart-wrenching and absolutely true story.  It’s one of the few times a memoir proved to be truly unforgettable. My interest in the film starring, Shailene Woodley, Sam Claflin increased ten-fold because I could hardly picture how it would be possible to bring the story I read to life with the same level of intensity as the words on the page.

And since the film releases Friday, DHTG will run the contest through the weekend and pick a winner on Monday.

Trust me, if you like to read (or know someone who does) this book is worth an entry.

STXfilms touts Adrift as the unforgettable story about the resilience of the human spirit and the transcendent.

Official film synopsis: As the two sailors set out on a journey across the ocean, Tami Oldham (Woodley) and Richard Sharp (Claflin) couldn’t anticipate they would be sailing directly into one of the most catastrophic hurricanes in recorded history. In the aftermath of the storm, Tami awakens to find Richard badly injured and their boat in ruins. With no hope for rescue, Tami must find the strength and determination to save herself and the only man she has ever loved.
