I have never really thought about Nazis in the 1970’s. But if Jordan Peele is involved with a show about Nazis in the 70’s then I’m interested in Nazis in the 70’s. The Hunt was picked up by Amazon for a 10-episode series. The show will be produced by Mokeypaw Production, Peele’s production company, and Sonar Entertainment with Jordan Peele as an executive producer.
This is the first scripted series picked up since Jennifer Salke took over as the head of Amazon Studios. She describes the show as culturally relevant, edge-of-your-seat entertainment. Peele is also excited about the show. The award winning director of Get Out was drawn to the show from the first time hearing about it.
When David Weil first shared The Hunt with me, I immediately knew that we had to be involved. It’s cathartic. It’s noir. It’s frighteningly relevant. It’s exactly what I want to see on television.
The Hunt centers on a diverse group of Nazi hunters who live in New York City in the 1977. After learning of hundred of high-ranking Nazis living in the U.S. and trying to create a Fourth Reich within the U.S. The Hunters set out on a quest for revenge and justice. The series will follow them as they track and kill hundreds of Nazis who have embedded themselves in American society.
Jordan Peele has been having a good couple weeks. On top of The Hunt being picked up by Amazon, he also won the Ray Bradbury Award for Outstanding Dramatic Presentation at the 2018 Nebula Awards. His show on TBS The Last O.G. with Tracy Morgan, has been renewed for a second season.
Peele had previously been best known for the show Key & Peele on Comedy Central. That was also produced by his company Monkeypaw Productions.
While there is no release date for The Hunt yet, Peele’s newest movie Us is slated for 2019. Are you excited to see the show? I’m definitely interested.
