Quentin Tarantino and J.J. Abrams Pitch New Star Trek
You read that correctly, Quentin Tarantino and J.J. Abrams have teamed up to pitch a new Star Trek movie to Paramount. While currently, there are no details of the project, the word is they are putting together a writers’ room and they will not move forward until a script is agreed upon by both Tarantino and Abrams. With Abrams producing and Tarantino directing, this could be the 4th film in the reboot series. That is unless Star Trek Beyond’s not so great reception makes them move to another storyline to reboot.
What could we see from a Tarantino directed Star Trek?
I’ll be the first to guess Samuel L. Jackson will be in it. With that being said, I hope they move passed Captain Kirk and move onto Deep Space Nine. Who wouldn’t want to see Sam Jackson as Captian Sisko? But if they stay with Kirk, they can explore the literal hundreds of stories from the TV show and older movies. One of my favorite stories and one that would be interesting is when a few of the crew went through a time rift and ended up in the 20th century. With Tarantino dialogue, this could be very interesting. Tarantino has a tendency of stronger language and R-rated movies; so will this be the first R-Rated Star Trek? How many f-bombs will they drop?
Do we need another Star Trek movie?
After Star Trek Beyond didn’t do as well as the others, we’ve been wondering if they would even do a 4th film. So that begs to ask the question, do we need more Star Trek? I say yes. While not the best movie Beyond did add a new layer to the new films and that was originality. It was a story we hadn’t seen before and I like that. Star Trek and Star Trek Into Darkness were huge stories that had our characters traveling all over the galaxy, Beyond brought them to one planet and kept them there to show how they handle life when they don’t have a ship to zoom out at warp speed.
