A Transformers Reboot Incoming?

Did Hasbro just announce a reboot of Transformers? Or is there more to this rumor than meets the eye? Back in 2007 Hasbro, Michael Bay, and Paramount brought to life the classic 80s cartoon Transformers. Shia LaBeouf and Megan Fox starred in the first two films, with Megan Fox dropping off for the third. Mark Wahlberg took over in the last few films. The movies did pretty well initially, but the wow factor of the new films soon wore off. The movies peaked in the third, making each installment following lesser and lesser. Now with one more movie in the pipeline, Bumblebee, Hasbro is teasing a reboot. Originally there would be one more film after the Bumblebee spin-off movie but it’s possible that is changing.

Conflicting Reports?

According to the website TransformerWorld 2005, Hasbro’s John Warden (Design Manager of the Transformers series with Hasbro) announced during Toy Fair 2018’s Hasbro Investor Preview;

Hasbro specifically stated that a new team at Paramount will reset the Transformers Live Action Movie Series following the release of Bumblebee: The Movie.

This is huge news. But with big news like this, and no definitive source other than this website, there is obviously conflicting reports. According to BleedingCool.com, the brand manager for Transformers was asked about the possible reboot and the response was;

Don’t believe what you hear, don’t worry.

So What is It?

Is it being rebooted or not? Everything right now is being speculated, but the next Transformers movie, outside of Bumblebee, has been canceled. That leaves the series on a cliffhanger. There is a lot of speculation that the next movie will be a bridge to reboot the series while connecting the last movie. Some people think the Autobots will time travel to stop the Unicron from becoming the Earth. Honestly, I think maybe it might be time to take a break from the Transformers universe and let it sit for a decade before looking into rebooting the franchise.

What do you think? Is the series getting a reboot? Should it? Let us know in the comments!
