If you are anything like me, you want to keep the hype from Black Panther going. WakandaCon is the train that is on the fast track to feeding my Black Panther obsession.

WakandaCon, which will be held in the windy city of Chicago, IL, is just around the corner. Official dates of the con are Friday, August 3rd and runs until Sunday, August 5th at the Hilton Downtown.

Wakandacons’ philosophy states:

“Wakandacon is a free space where you can be a nerd about anything – pop culture, gaming, tech, womanhood, politics, or your own beautiful Blackness…A space for Black people of all types to come together, educate each other, and celebrate all of our passions. It’s an event where we can dress up, dance, connect, support each other, and celebrate the entire diaspora looking past the present and into our future.”

This is definitely a con to look forward to, especially if you are a well-rounded geek. From gaming tournaments to cosplay to STEM panels, there is something here for everyone. Celebrity guests that are confirmed so far are Lawrence Lee Williams (founder of Deep Production Studios), Cynda Williams (actress and singer), and Mark Willis (Black Panther, Jabari tribe member) among many others.

Before you ask no, you don’t have to be black to attend. Don’t be silly. Also, it is clearly outlined in their FAQ section that, “All citizens of Wakanda are welcome to attend!”. Speaking of that, their website has one of the best FAQ sections I’ve ever seen. My favorite question is “This event is racist! My feelings!” to which the answer is “lol u mad?”.

What are you waiting for? Grab your tickets, grab your hotel key. This is not a con to miss.  Any of you geeks planning on checking this out? Leave us a comment and tell us what you think. Wakandacon Forever!
