WTF is… one of the most influential and popular YouTubers, TotalBiscuit, has succumbed to his long battle with cancer. His wife Genna posted the news via twitter, stating “Rest in Peace my Dearest Love”.

John Bain built his career on YouTube around playing and critiquing various games. He developed a reputation for sometimes controversial opinions on issues like transparency of game streamers and the money game developers give them. Bain was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2014, and it went on to spread to his liver and spine last year after remission. He decided to retire from games criticism earlier this month, stating that his liver was failing and that chemotherapy has ceased to work. He still planned to do streaming and video-making with his wife, hoping she’d continue after his passing. Some words we can all listen to:
“This is something that will make me happy, spending time with my family but also getting job satisfaction. That’s something all too easily overlooked by some, I’m a very work-driven person and one of hardest things of the past couple of years has been dealing with not being able to reliable do my work. It’s brought on depression, uncertainty, anger, you name it. I hate it.”
In the meantime, feel free to stop by his official merch store or Genna’s YouTube page. I’m not sure if our readers are familiar with TotalBiscuit at all, but I’ve followed him for years and this really hit me hard. If we can all take some time to consider what we do day to day, just think about what’s most important and what you don’t want to lose. All the things we do day to day, some of the most mundane and trivial things we all argue about; some of it really doesn’t matter in the end. Just remember your loved ones and spend as much time with them as possible. That is what’s most important.
We’ll all miss you, TB.
