The SNES Classic is Coming! Includes Never Before Released Starfox 2!

When Nintendo launched the miniature NES Classic system last year everyone began to speculate what would be on the inevitable Super Nintendo Classic. Well, speculate no more as Nintendo has proven once again that they are the masters of strumming the strings of nostalgia and made the SNES Classic a real thing. Like it’s predecessor, the SNES Classic is designed to fit in the palm of your hand and is chock-full of amazing games.

SNES Classic Hand

The SNES Classic will come with 21 iconic games including one that has never before been made officially available to the masses. Starfox 2, the sequel to the at-the-time revolutionary Starfox, will be included in this package. It has been noted by Nintendo however that you must complete the first stage of Starfox in order to unlock the sequel. The rest of the games, ranging from lengthy RPGs, classic platformers, and two player brawlers is stellar. Check out the full list of games below.

  • Contra III: The Alien Wars
  • Donkey Kong Country
  • EarthBound
  • Final Fantasy III
  • F-ZERO
  • Kirby Super Star
  • Kirby’s Dream Course
  • The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  • Mega Man® X
  • Secret of Mana
  • Star Fox
  • Star Fox 2
  • Street Fighter® II Turbo: Hyper Fighting
  • Super Castlevania IV
  • Super Ghouls ’n Ghosts®
  • Super Mario Kart
  • Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  • Super Mario World
  • Super Metroid
  • Super Punch-Out!!
  • Yoshi’s Island

SNES games

The SNES Classic will ship with one HDMI cable, one USB charging cable with AC adapter and two wired Super NES Classic Controllers. Two controllers in the box mean that games like Street Fighter II, and Secret of Mana can be enjoyed just like they were meant to be; side-by-side on a couch with your friends or siblings.

The mini console will be released this year on September 29th and retail at $79.99. Pre-order and retailer information is forthcoming. I would strongly recommend keeping your eyes peeled and an ear to the ground because, if the release of the SNES Classic goes anything like the NES Classic, these things will be flying off the shelves and nigh impossible to find. I don’t know about you geeks, but I will not miss out on this console like I, unfortunately, did the NES Classic. Let us know what you think about the games line-up in the comments below. Personally, I can’t wait to dive back into all the games included, especially Secret of Mana.
